Nose Aesthetics (Rhinoplasty)

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct the shape or function of the nose. Rhinoplasty is performed for purposes such as changing the shape of the nose, changing the size or shape of the nostrils, removing the arch on the back of the nose, correcting the shape of the nose tip or nose wings. Although rhinoplasty is usually done for aesthetic purposes, it can also be done to improve nasal functions in some cases. Rhinoplasty can be used in people who have problems such as breathing difficulties, nasal congestion or sleep apnea.

Rhinoplasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia. The operation is performed through an incision made through the nose, and the nasal bones and cartilages are reshaped to remove defects on the skin and soft tissue surface. This process takes about 1-3 hours. After the operation, the patient may have to use a special splint or cast for several days. There may be swelling and bruising during the first week after the operation. There may also be mild pain and discomfort in the nose area. After about 1-2 weeks, swelling and bruises in the nose area begin to decrease. Full recovery may take 6-12 months.

Although rhinoplasty is a very safe procedure, it has risks like any surgical procedure. Possible risks include infection, bleeding, complications related to anesthesia, loss of sensation in the nose and congestion in the nostrils. However, these complications are rare. As a result, rhinoplasty may be an option for people who want to correct the shape or function of the nose. However, like any surgical procedure, this procedure should be performed by a specialist surgeon and the risks and benefits should be considered.
